Biergarten Open!!!
An indoor restaurant and bar with a covered patio that leads to an outdoor beer garden in a vacant lot on Lincoln Way is on its way to opening in Downtown Auburn. The Station Public House at 750 Lincoln Way is targeted for opening in 2019, promising to end questions about the future of a property devoid of buildings since the 1980s, located just south of Harrison Street.
The Station’s Tyler Lovejoy and Tyler Friesen, both products of Auburn schools, have gained city of Auburn approval to continue moving ahead with a project that would see a new enterprise in a business block with three existing restaurants that is already attracting a burgeoning dining scene.
Lovejoy said that The Station — named in honor of Auburn’s nearby historical railroad station — will be serving dozens of craft beers and featuring local wines and artists.
The 1,142-square-foot interior will have new openings carved into the wall of the existing building and leading onto a covered deck. The deck will be an entry point to an outdoor beer-garden area that will feature seating as well as room for activities that include corn hole and bocce ball games, Lovejoy said.
Plans call for construction of a kitchen, custom bar top with 30 tap handles, installation of multiple TVs and seating inside for 24. The exterior will also have seating and tables.
Two garage-style doors will connect the dining area and indoor bar with the patio and outdoor area — opening and closing as weather permits. Plans for the 6,800-square-foot vacant lot include a water feature and overhead outdoor lighting.
According to The Station website, hours of operation will be from 11 a.m. until about 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 11 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday.
“The facilities will mostly be used for dining,” the website states. “However, on some occasions, live music would be featured, typically coinciding with community events such as Auburn Cruise Nite, parades and other activities that result in the closure of Lincoln Way.”
Live music will comply with all noise ordinances, the site states. A draft noise ordinance will be going to the city Planning Commission on Jan. 15.
